First Views of China

Having left London at 4pmGMT and then had a 9-hour flight I arrived at Shanghai International feeling just a little jaded, looking forward to a good sleep. It was now 10.30 on a hot, sunny humid August morning. On clearing customs we have been told to set our luggage on a van which would take it to our hotel. We boarded our air-conditioned coach and headed for the Pudong district. The buildings are an awesome sight, The Oriental Pearl television Tower (3rd largest in the world), The Jin Mao Tower (tallest building in China and 3rd largest in the world), not the image of China I had in my mind, this really is 21st Century China. On our way from the airport the construction in the ultra modern Magnetic Levitation Railway was rapidly advancing, this will be capable of transporting passengers into Shanghai at speeds of more than 200mph.

We received a warm welcome at a restaurant and on entering all our party have been impressed with he massive fish tanks, especially the golden carp. After getting revealed to our dining space everyone had their second shock in the day, the menu, nobody expected the carp for getting on it. The menus in our home chinese language restaurants have been nothing such as the true thing. During lunch the outline of events for the subsequent 14 days was set out,

Being a tour guide in Chongqing

As the hottest town in China, Chongqing really has the reputation for it….People all call this town an oven, not merely mainly since the weather, but in inclusion food, people, atmosphere, and or course among the most essential factors, hot girls…

I’m not Chongqing local, but since I’m from Sichuang province Chengdu city, which is just 3 several hours generate from Chongqing and mainly because I went to college in Chongqing for 4 years and have been functioning here for almost two years, I guess I form of regards myself as a Chongqing nearby already…even sometimes I don’t like to be.

Because I speak English, mainly because I’m functioning for any US company, anyway, for some reason, I happened to be considered a tour guide in Chongqing, which has the main responsibility taking care of visitors from all over the world….Not only to guide them, but in inclusion babysitting them…It’s a brilliant job…At the pretty beginning, I never imagine it could be that much fun…For a quantity of time, it wasn’t me tour guiding them, but we communicating different heritage together…

Restaurant Karma

The very first place I noticed as we walked over the entrance to the restaurant was a chinese language courses chef picking up a reside fish from the tank and attempting to kill it by throwing it repeatedly about the cement, in preparation for cooking. Needless to say the scaly, silver aquatic morsel was none too happy about being battered repeatedly about the ground. it had been creating every single effort to swim and squirm and flap alone to security also it took a fantastic dozen hurls to the ground to subdue the main course. The 2nd place I noticed was a huge pink and orange octopus, slushing about in its own slime about the pavement lower than a foot besides my leg, eyes bulging, tentacles writhing, trying to get back to its tank to prevent being turned into calamari. so began my very first meal on Putuo Shan, a holy Buddhist island just off the coast of China.

Now don’t get me wrong, since coming to China I’ve visited many weird and wonderful restaurants. I’ve eaten in rubble strewn kitchens which have more in common with war torn Kosovo than places of dining, Buddhist monasteries where you should devour every single single atom of food given to you for fear of offending the monks, and establishments where its perfectly normal to eat lambs’ ***. But as I watched the Chef chase after the entree acquiring a cleaver as it slowly dragged alone along the ground with long feeling tentacles, gasping for breath, I knew this place was different.

How to Travel with Food for the Holidays

Preparing food to share at the holiday festivities is a common practice in our society. However, you need to be able to travel with the food so that it will remain delicious when you arrive at your destination. Foods can move around causing them not to look as pretty when you arrive. You also don’t want the food to tip over and get all over your vehicle. This can be extremely messy as well as be quite frustrating.

There are some wonderful containers out there that allow you to transport foods for the holidays without too much trouble. They are insulated containers that will keep the foods hot or cold. Many of them come with a covering that zips up around them like a suitcase. They even come with a handle. You should consider placing these items in a box so they won’t have as much room to move around while you travel to your holiday destination.
