Shanghai Transportation

Shanghai boasts one of the best transportation systems in China. As a major port city and the largest city in Eastern China, this is the major hub for the eastern region.

By Airport:
There are direct flights to many international cities from Shanghai. Shanghai is the only city in China that has two international airports.

Pudong International Airport (PVG) is the new international airport, it handles 60% of flights including most flights from all over the world, PVG is situated in the east of Shanghai, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) away from the city center and 40 kilometers (25 miles) from SHA.

Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) is located in the west of Shanghai, 15 km from the city center.Transfer from the two airports is very easy since there are so many airport buses, taxi can take you to the destination. Also, you can try Maglev in PVG, it is the fastest way for you to reach your destination.

As one of the main Chinese airline hubs, Shanghai has opened connection with nearly two hundred cities, half domestic ones and half international and regional ones.

By Train:
There are three railway stations in Shanghai: Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai West Railway Station and Shanghai South Railway Station. Shanghai Railway Station serves as the main passenger station among the three stations. Everyday 70 or so pairs of trains run between other cities all over the country. Shanghai West Railway Station serving routes between Shanghai and Yantai, Zaozhuang, Hengyang, Ganzhou, Chengdu. Round trips between Shanghai South Railway Station and Hangzhou, Jiashan, Jinshan, etc.

By Bus:
Shanghai boasts the most established highway system in China. Express ways has been constructed to link all the nearby provinces. The main long distance bus station is near the train station on Qiujiang Road. Buses from here head to Nanjing (4 hours), Wuxi, Suzhou, Hangzhou and other cities.

By Sea:
Shanghai, for its geographic location, is the world’s third largest port and China’s largest seaport. Ships sailing from Shanghai Port voyage to about 400 foreign ports. Shiliu Pu Dock has regular ships for neighboring areas like Nantong City, Dinghai City and Mt. Putuoshan area. Shanghai Changjiang (Yangtze River) Shipping Corporation provides ships to Chongqing, Nanjing and Wuhan.

Transportation in Guilin

Guilin is one of the best transportation systems in China, There are many ways to come to and leave Guilin : by air, by train, by boat or bus . The most convenient for tourists to get around is by taxi or bycicle for travel.

By Air
Flights is the most convenient way to come to Guilin . There are many domestic airlines and some direct flights servicing Guilin from many part city of China and asia county. Guilin Liangjiang International Airport is 30 kilometers west of the city (about a 40 minute taxi ride). Most large hotels have shuttles available (with prior notice). Other airport shuttles cost RMB20 and operate without a fixed schedule. A taxi into the city will cost around RMB80-RMB100.

By Train
Guilin Railway Station is located in the city center. Guilin train is serving the large population to most of China’s city every day. Traveling by train is certainly achievable and can be a great way to get to know the people, the culture and to see the country side at a more leisurely pace. It is really convenient and cheap for traveling.

By Boat
The most popular and spectacular way to get from Guilin to Yangshuo is by taking a tour on the Lijiang River . Boat tickets can be bought through your hotel or at the ticket office on Binjiang Road near the Lijiang River and south of Fir Lake.

By Bus
China coach network is very well. Most routes from major cities are serviced by new long distance coaches that are comfortable and have seatbelts fitted to the coaches. Tickets are obtained from the bus station. Most short range buses that service nearby towns like Yangshuo and Xing’an leave from the old railway station in the west. These buses should be inexpensive (RMB10-20 to Yangshuo)

By Taxi and Bicycle
In Guilin, the Taxis are relatively inexpensive compared to other cities. Bicycles can be rented form hotels in Guilin (RMB15-20) and at many cafes and hostels in Yangshuo (RMB10).

Xian Transportation

Xian is the capital of Shaanxi province, located in central of China, between the Weihe river in the north and the Qinling Mountains in the south. Xian is in a favorable geographical location surrounded by water and hills. It has a semi-moist monsoon climate and there is a clear distinction between the four seasons. Except the colder winter, any season is relatively suitable for traveling.

Xi’an has China’s fourth largest airport, the flights can reach more than 60 large and medium-sized cities at home and abroad as well as Hong Kong, Macao, and Japanese Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Niigata, Nagoya and other places. Xi’an Xianyang International Airport in the north-west of Xian, from the Xi’an downtown about 50 kilometers, the connectivity of the airport freeway just roughly will spend one hour on this way.

Longhai railway as the Eurasian continental Bridge crosses Xian, the Xian-Yanan railway connecting the ancient city of Xi’an with Yan’an, Chinas sacred revolutionary place. Xikang railway going through Qinling mountains chains can reach Chongqing directly. Xian railway station is one of Chinese largest stations of railway, and one of railway terminals in the west of China. Xi’an Railway Station is located in the northern part of the urban area. Generally speaking, it takes 30 minutes to the railway station. It is really convenient!

Highway
Xian is the second largest highway traffic hub all around China except Beijing, and more than nine national highways extend towards all parts of the country.

The urban traffic is much too convenient; the public buses are available at any time to all the directions of city, including many scenic spots such as Terra cotta warriors, wild-goose tower and so on. The price is acceptable.

Once known as a nation of bicycles, China today has an ever growing number of private car owners. So, nowadays you are guaranteed to see more bikes in any city in the Netherlands than in Beijing. However, the infrastructure from its days as capital of the “Bicycle Kingdom” means exploring Beijing on a bike is excellent. The city is flat as a pancake and all major streets have bike lanes. Bicycling is often faster than traveling by car, taxi or bus because of the traffic congestion in the motorized traffic lanes.

Bicycle Renting

To advocate environmental protection, more and more people in Beijing are giving up driving motor vehicles and are riding bicycles instead. Now, you can find many places in Beijing offering bicycle rental services, including hotels, scenic spots, and even subway entrances. Now, there has over 230 sites for renting 50,000 bicycles in Beijing. Shichahai area is well-known with its high density of traditional Hutongs, renting a bicycle there and riding through the Hutongs is good experience.

Renting Costs
The method of renting and payment is convenient at bicycle rental sites, tourists can enjoy a short or long-term rental with a CNY100-400 deposit. The cost is around CNY5 per hour, CNY10 for a half day (4 hours), CNY20 for a day and CNY70 for a week. The Bicycle Rental Site at the Beijing Hotel, Wangfujing, accepts the card of the China Bank Network, the rent can be paid easily by card. you can also renting a tandem bicycle at Shichahai area, the price is CNY20 per hour.
